Careers in physical education
Match a career to its work.
Sports careers, once seen as unrewarding, are now real options. Mental skills such as self-confidence help sportspersons perform consistently; start with modest, attainable goals.
Teaching and coaching in schools, colleges, universities, government centres, clubs and resorts, or in one's own academy.
Health careers: physical fitness instructors plan exercise routines; dieticians plan balanced diets; sports medicine physicians treat sports injuries.
Administration (sports director, officer, manager) handles finance, facilities and events; performance careers include professional players and officials (referees, umpires, judges), who need to pass the sport body's written and practical tests.
Media careers: sports writers, publishers, photographers, artists, TV and radio broadcasters, statisticians. Sales and management: sports marketing and event management. Physical education also helps in defence, paramilitary and police careers.
